Sam Shendi is an internationally-recognised Egyptian artist, based in Yorkshire. Sam was introduced to Envisuals after seeing our work for another client.

the brief

Lots of people contact Sam, expressing interest in his work, and his artistic process. He wanted a non-intrusive way to show people 'behind-the-scenes’ in his studio.

He agreed to let us film a short tour of his studio. Jon, our director visited Sam’s studio prior to filming, to get to know him and his process in a bit more depth. We discussed ideas an options about how we could capture this on film.

Our Process

We filmed with a 1-person crew, to keep things feeling light and natural. We didn’t want the film to feel like it was staged.

Filming over just a couple of hours, we captured footage a short introduction from Sam… as well as some footage of him at work. This was all captured as high-quality, high-frame-rate footage… allowing us to slow it down and give it a smooth, silky feel.

The finished films feel gentle and intimate… which shows off Sam’s work in a way that really connects with the audience.

Sam has used the film to help him secure new commissions, and exhibitions opportunities around the world.
